Fern-Fenster 2010

Simonetta Fadda, Officine Schwartz video projection with live soundtrack

Two windows facing each other, mine and that of my neighbour opposite. Day and night, he does the same thing: he writes on his computer in front of the window. I do the same. Sometimes, my neighbour opposite drinks beer while he writes. I drink tea. And I watch him. Nothing else happens. Obsessive repetitiveness. Sense of oppression. Two windows that become two screens, almost like all the other screens and visual devices that in the world return reality in the form of a technological image. Interfaces between us and others. Extreme voyeurism produces an opacity of gaze.
Simonetta Fadda

In this work, music and images pulsate at the same intensity: the rhythmicity of the soundtrack describes the obsessive repetition of actions. Majestic solitude of the psaltery in relation to the only human being in the video. The imperative of sonic subtraction, which guides my most recent compositional activity, finds its fullness in the two strings of the chordophone alone, and matches perfectly with the essentiality of the subject in the images.

Simonetta Fadda and Osvaldo Arioldi Schwartz: two very similar sensibilities that meet on the field of experimentation, united by the preference for low definition, for DIY on tools and for a raw aesthetic without rhetorical smears.

TELEFINESTRA was premiered at the 2010 Bergamo Film Meeting as a live sound film.
